LinkedIn had reached critical mass usage by 2006 when it became the most popular business-oriented social network with over 13 million users worldwide.

LinkedIn launched a job search feature in 2008 and acquired LinkedIn Answers (a Q&A site) for $90m USD plus stock options worth approximately $30m US Dollars; this made LinkedIn one of Silicon Valley’s largest acquisitions ever at that time.
One final note: Microsoft purchased LinkedIn Corp. on June 14th, 2016, for 26 billion dollars or around 107 times revenue (according to TechCrunch).
