His digital marketing show often starts with a long-form, in-depth, visual post from one of his online domains.
With a thirst for his knowledge and eager to learn from him, digital startups, e-commerce vendors, and Internet entrepreneurs around the world hang around Quicksprout, waiting for an email from this digital marketing expert to learn the next Google update, SEO tactic, or online marketing hack that can grow their businesses—fast.
It’s a charming kind of intimacy that the online students give to their marketing teacher—Neil Patel. With visual imagery to drive home his points, he tells us what marketing strategies he uses to draw torrents of traffic to his sites and how exactly he uses them. Here at WunderTRE, we’re a big fan of Mr. Neil.
Over the course of many years, we have read Mr. Neil’s advice—and put some of his excellent tips to practice. Here are three key lessons to share with you.
1. Quality content wins the SEO game.
Just browse through a post on Neilpatel.com, our favorite, and you’ll be wowed by the long-form posts (usually from 1,700 to over 2000 words) and data-driven blog content that will blow your mind. The professional Internet marketer invests his time to craft these comprehensive posts day in and day out because of one hard truth:
Quality content wins the SEO game.
Content is the ultimate secret formula for SEO. When it comes to SEO, according to Neil, “people come first before search algorithms.” Google loves valuable content.
The search engine giant ranks pages that broadly answer searchers’ queries. So “give Google what Google loves,” advised the renowned online consultant. That’s the only way you can win the SEO race.
2. Blogging is smart marketing in action.
If you’re a small online business, but you don’t have blogging in your marketing toolkit, then you’re losing out on a very important marketing tool… big time.
Beyond just a hobby, your blog is your #1 marketing channel. On it, you get the opportunity to share your knowledge with your readers, educate them about your industry, inform them about new trends in the market, answer their questions, and solve their pain points.
If your content is valuable to your audience, they’ll visit your website every day. They’ll read your posts. They’ll consume your ideas, share your posts, click to order your products, and even tell their peers to do the same. “A lot of my best customers come from my blog,” Neil said in his interview with Income Diary. “They’re reading a blog post, like, ‘This guy seems smart. Let’s hire him!’”
So invest more in blogging and don’t forget to track and analyze your results.
3. Analyze to stay ahead.
If there’s anything Neil Patel is known for, it is his very analytical habits. “I’m [an] analytic junkie,” Neil admits. “It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Google Analytics.”
The SEO guru knows the value of tracking a result, measuring data, and analyzing a marketing campaign. Because, as they say, “what gets measured gets improved,” Neil’s companies, such as Crazyegg and Kissmetrics, were built to help us track, measure, and analyze our results.
One of the things Neil teaches us is that, in online marketing, we can only achieve great results when we measure our numbers.
Know your numbers so you can refine your strategies, pivot, and stay ahead.
